SMS001 · Stas Moor Station℠ - The beginning
I am starting a series about the creation process of my creative hub.
Welcome to a series about the creation process of "Stas Moor Station℠" my creative hub and home on the internet.
As with all designers, I am also struggling with putting together my personal site. A few years have passed since I updated the current website. And the funny part is that, to begin with, it was created to serve only for a temporary period of time. You know what I'm talking about, right? ;)
So I've decided to make this a fun and open project with bigger goals in mind and involve you in the process of creating it.
What to expect from this series
The goal of this series is to share work in progress, ideate on design approaches, discuss thoughts behind certain decisions, and discuss the challenges that occur.
It is going to be a biweekly newsletter. In the past, I always struggled to stay consistent with my blog posts, so this is going to be an additional challenge for me, so I hope that you are rooting for me. 😅
The why behind it all
The reason for starting this series is simple: to share more work that describes the meaning behind certain decisions. With that, I hope to also provide some value to other creatives in the field.
You might be wondering — why not simply share some screenshots, e.g., on Dribbble or Behance, etc.? I have nothing against that approach of sharing the work, but I think that there is an exchange gap that comes with it. It focuses our minds too much on the outcome—the final result. The thoughts, challenges and effort that were put into the work get lost, but aren't those the most exciting parts of it? I believe they are.
This series will become a place to exchange ideas and receive feedback and suggestions. The insights will help us all grow as makers.
I've grown to really enjoy reading stories that give a glimpse into how something is created and about the thought processes that go into it. Side-note: You might also want to check out the VWFNDR series by two awesome designers that share their story of creating a new photo camera with a more modern approach to the hardware and software compared to what we're used to.
So, those are the inspirations and goals that motivated me to give it a go.
For whom is this for
If you are a designer and/or maker who is interested in getting a peek into the thoughts and processes of another creative, gaining insights, and being inspired, then this is definitely for you.
About me
So, who the hell am I? 😅
My name is Stas Moor. I am a brand and software designer with more than 13 years of experience in the field. Through the years, I had the opportunity to work with some of the biggest European start-ups like Personio, eGym, and Freeletics. But my career began working for design agencies, which gave me diverse project experience. Besides that, I've also founded a small start-up, and one of our products is an automatic time-tracking app called Klokki. Currently, I am supporting Impower, a property management SaaS, as the Head of Brand and Product Design.
Now you know a bit more, and we are no longer complete strangers. Although, I still don't know anything about you, feel free to share your story in the comments.
Well, let's continue.
What's coming next
For the next post, I am planning to share the concept behind what the Station℠ is or shall become. And also involve you in the goals I've set for myself when defining the project.
If anything of the above has struck even the smallest spark of interest in you, then it would be lovely if you joined me on this journey.
